Welcome to the Dordogne…

Here are some leisure activities on the doorstep: walks, canoe-kayak, climbing, Treetop Acrobatic Parks, riding stables (with boarding for horses), Vélo Rail (cycling on former railway tracks), river and lake fishing, cinema, visits to educational farms, astronomy, the 16 km long “Green Path” suitable for all age groups.

In the numerous local markets you will discover our regional specialities: foie gras, truffles and walnuts, Bergerac wines, the milk-fed veal, the “black-tail” pigs, turkey cocks, chestnuts, apples, strawberries and the cepe mushroom…

Here are just some of the not to be missed towns and villages on which to feast your eyes: Brantôme (the Venice of the Périgord), St. Jean de Côle (one of “the most beautiful villages of France”), the châteaux of Bourdeilles and Puyguilhem, of Jumilhac le Grand (and its gold panning); Périgueux, Hautefort, the caves of Villars ….

Let’s not forget our industrial history: the forges and the felt industry, the mills, whose wheels still turn to crush the wheat and in season the walnuts…, the Nontron cutlery works (France’s longest established knife), as well as the very diverse savoir-faire, like for instance the excellent Experimental Centre of Art & Craft, which illustrates a wide variety of talents.
